Socktoberfest: Learning 2.0 at its best
I am an avid knitter and subscribe to a number of knitting blogs. I use my aggregator to scan them from time to time. Yesterday I came across on the best examples of Learning 2.0 I have seen so far. It emerged out of the needs and interests of a group. The content is completely user-generated. And it uses free tools for information sharing and dissemination.
It is called Socktoberfest. It was started by a knitter who writes the blog Lolly Knitting Around.
Lolly used her blog to ask for participation and set up a Socktoberfest group on Flickr.
There is a group photo pool of socks people have made: Sock Pool with 282 photos so far. I love this because you can use Flickr's slide show feature and just cycle through the photo set.
And there is a discussion group with a great set of requests for tutorials. I find this a wonderful example of people teaching one another.
I know this model can be transferred to many other settings.
